Lincoln County Fair - July 21st-22nd - Mud Drags

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday, July 21: 84 contestants showed up for qualifying during the WGAS Mud Drags in Newport, OR. The stands were full at the Lincoln County Fair complex to watch the huge field of competitors go through 2 rounds of side by side qualifying. The racing was exciting and scary when Glen Priest flipped his machine in the middle of the mud pit during the first round of qualifying in the 8 Cylinder Open Class. Priest was unharmed, however his hot rod was not quite so lucky. They were both back racing the next day. Curtis Ford lost a wheel when he broke an axle at the start line during round one qualifying ine the 8 Cylinder Street Class. Saturday night racing concluded with a barbeque sponsored by WGAS Motorsports. A fabulous chocolate cake dessert for all was supplied by Sherri Dawkins.

Jimmy Fitzpatrick scheduled us a great freestyle with Thomas Alves from Glendale, Arizona. Thomas brought along a couple of his friends that had an afternoon open and wanted to play: J.J. Romans from Phoeniz, Arizona, and Jack Rowe from Wauconda, Illinois. All three riders gave the spectators the hottest freestyle event ever seen at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. The riders threw Rock Solids, K.O.D.s and twin simultaneous back flips. The spectators were absolutely stunned.

Blackwell was hospitalized with a L-1 compression fracture.

Riverside County Fair - February 17th - Monster Truck Freestyle

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unnamed & Untamed - Hooked a car with his asphalt wheelie bar spark skids and broke his right rear planetaries when the car rolled under Unnamed and kicked the whole load to that right wheel. Unnamed returned later that noght for a great three leg run and donut.

Natural High - With a new small motor and low gear set-up Natural High produced some huge moon shots during both sessions. During his final round a fuel line on the blower hat came loose in the middle of a donut and weshed the engine down with fuel - the fire was spectacular. The WGAS track crew quickly extinguished the fire and Kelvin drove Natural High - unharmed from the track following a tighten-up of thge fuel line from his fellow monster truck driver Sam Struges.

Nasty Boy - Closed the day with four solid rounds of Free Style. Moon shots, wheel stands and donuts from Ronnie gave the little arena in Indio all the action it could handle and topped off a great day of Motorsports for the Riverside County Fair.

A great track was built by Ed Smith and Chris Hare and Lonny Fretch. Head flag man was Del Baker. Announcing, Deena Drandon and Don Borba, tabulation and timming Diana Reyes and Sharlene Borba - order to all was kept by Sherri Llerano.
